Sean T. Cooper, one of my favorite flash game designers, just came up with something new. Knox. It's a classic game of marbles which up to 4 people can play. It's a great physics game, and I love physics games. The game has a classic interface for shooting the marble. Clicking on the shooter marble, you can increase power by moving outward and let go to shoot the marble in the direction of the mouse pointer. You get to see two things. Where your marble is heading, indicated by a green line, and where the the first other marble you collide with will head. The playing area is a nice wooden backdrop with a ring drawn on. The object of the game is to keep the shooter marble inside the ring while hitting all the other marbles out. The more marbles you shoot out at once the more points you score, each additional ball holds an accumulating bonus score. 10 for the first, 12 for the second, 14 for the third and so on. All in all, the game is very smooth and responsive, never jerky or glitchy, and it has impeccable physics which operate without a hitch either. I have only one complaint which is very minor at that. In between shooting, you have to wait for all the marbles to stop moving and the score to be tallied. It would make for much faster paced gameplay if one could click into the next round as soon as they had made their shot. Sean T. Cooper is also the designer of all the arcade style Boxhead games which rank in my book as some of the best games on the net.
